Kris Allen On Regis and Kelly: American Idol Season 8 winner Kris Allen appeared on Regis and Kelly live on yesterday morning and as always looked relaxed and smiling as well. He said he never thought that he will beat Adam Lambert and win American Idol. He was shell-shocked that day he was announced winner.

Kris said, “You know I never actually thought about winning.  It was always just like trying to get to the next week.  I think the only time I ever thought about winning was in the finale.  I was trying to make the top ten and top five.  I was always trying to get through that next week and pick the right song.”

He has talked on many things like never taking Idol seriously before becoming a contestant and He also confessed that he auditioned with his brother on a road trip whim.  A couple days before the Louisville auditions he and his brother decided to make the trip and have some fun.  Saying, tongue in cheek, “…It turned out okay.” Well it doesn’t matter now as he is already a winner and i really thought that he deserved American Idol Trophy.

Kris Allen has won American Idol Season 8 Finale by beating Adam Lambert in a Close Finale on Wednesday night May 20, 2009. That also means this was the most unlikely finish for most of the Idol Watchers as no one had expected Kris to win over Adam. However American Idol is famous to throw such sweet surprises.

Kris Allen was so happy and shocked to hear this that he even didn’t know what to say. He said,”I’m sorry, I don’t even know what to feel right now. This is crazy.” As Host Ryan Seacrest rightly puts it,”The underdog, the dark horse, comes back and wins the nation over.”

When most of the judges were drooling over Adam Lambert and labeled him as their next American Idol already, this came as a shocker to all the judges. Few people even started to call it a Adam Lambert Show. However American People voted for their best choice and i guess that was a very right choice even though this time the voter turnout share was at its lowest in American Idol History. The show will also be remembered for Katrina Darrell and Kara Bikini show while performing for a song.

As Huffington Post Puts it:-

Lambert was such a powerful, unique performer that his fans were allowed a sense of entitlement on his behalf. But his triumph wasn’t inevitable. When Allen and Lambert were declared the finalists last week, just 1 million viewer votes separated the pair out of 88 million cast.

Allen bloomed during the season, gaining more assurance onstage and winning viewers over with his heartfelt vocals, modest demeanor and well-scrubbed good looks. He also scored big with his singer-songwriter arrangement of the Kanye West song “Heartless,” subbing sharp, syncopated guitar playing and crisp vocals for the original’s autotune voice and electronic beats. There was also the Danny Gokey factor. Gokey made it to the top three before he fell out of the contest, leaving his supporters up for grabs.

Adam Lambert and Kris Allen enthralled the audience on the American Idol Season 8 Stage Live in Nokia Theater where they started by singing “No Boundaries” written by Idol Judge Kara.

Kris Allen Sang “What’s Goin’ On” playing a guitar which was a choice of Simon and i felt he was really good and the overall performance of the song was nice. However judges had something different in their mind. Randy felt the song was a bit too light for this big occasion while Kara liked it, Paula said, “your tore that song up” and Simon as usual wasn’t too happy with his performance. He said,”You didn’t grab the song and make it your own. I thought it was too laid-back for a night like this.”

Adam Lambert sang “A Change Is Gonna Come” also selected by Simon and he was quite good in his performance and no doubt all the judges also seemed too happy and unanimous on his performance. Randy called it “Unbelievable” while Kara felt it was the best performance of the season, Paula also felt it was Adam’s best performance till date in Idol and Simon as usual said,”you are 100% back in the game, congratulation.”

Well it doesn’t matter what the judges say. It’s the American People who are going to vote so remember to vote for a person who you think was best. Enjoy the American Idol Season 8 finale performance after the jump.
