Penelope Cruz Won the Best Actress in Supporting Role Oscar-2009 for her role in the film “Vicki Cristina Barcelona” at the 81st annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles, California, February 22, 2009.

Incidentally This was the first award of the night and also Penelope became the first Spanish born actress to win an Oscar for best supporting role.

Penelope Said, “Thank you Woody for trusting me with this beautiful character. Thank you for having written over all these years some of the greatest characters for women. I grew up in a place called Alcobendas, where this was not a very realistic dream. It has been changing. We are all mixed together and that has to be reflected in cinema. I’m happy that finally that door seems to be more open and not just to me and three other people, but to a much bigger group”

Well Penelope Life has definitely come as a full circle to you….

Penelope Cruz bagged an Award for the Best Actress in Supporting Role in Woody Allen’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” at BAFTA at the Royal Opera House 2009 Royal Opera House in London on February 8, 2008.

Penelope Started, “Can’t believe it !!! Thank You So Much !!! I feel really honored and grateful to receive this. Thank You to the British Academy. I thank Woody for writing such a beautiful, lunatic script and for trusting and giving it to me.”

“ I want to dedicate this award to the rest of the cast and the most talented and generous group of actors that one can dream of.  I also want to share it with all the women that are nominated with me tonight and to say that i am in a incredible company is a huge understatement. Last night was the premiere of Woody Allen new movie “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” in New York and it was attended by many Hollywood Bigwig. After all it’s a Woody Allen movie. It’s already making quite a buzz in Hollywood Circle. The “Blow” actress Penelope Cruz was looking stunning in a black dress with equally high heels.
