She’s lucky she didn’t get arrested for assault, some pretty scary words especially someone with her build. And that line judge is tiny. When you let your emotions take control, bad things happen.

The rules simply state: first a code warning, next a point violation, finally you are defaulted from the match. Serena was correctly assesed a point penalty on a 15-40 (game & match point)point, thus she loses the match. Easy as that.

And what qualifies you to determine that her actions are a cause of self hatred? She lost her temper; She was wrong, it has nothing to do with hatred for anyone or anything but the call of the line judge. She just ranks up there with the best of them now: McEnroe and Nastase (Nasty). Get over it people, please just get over it.

The line judge was Asian. You know the media would be over this story 100x stronger if she was White. Then they could really hammer the victim card home.

And you know damn well if the roles were reversed ALL the headlines would read “Serena sends white girl into uncontrollable rage after tennis beating”

Then they’d play the clip a million times for months on every network.

Yeah, youre right. They just grabbed the nearest woman walking along the side of the road and said “hey, would you like to be a line judge” lol. Shut up.

Serena was clearly out of control. There is no ‘debate’. She knew she was going to loose and through a little hissy fit.

Her interview after the game was a disgrace and she should feel ashamed for playing the victim card instead of apologizing. So typical.

Get real? If Serena stepped on the line the line judge should have called it PARTICULARLY because of when it was. If it’s the Super Bowl does the receiver not have to come down in bounds? If it’s the NBA finals does Michael get to push off to get his shot off? (Well, bad example. He did. But he shouldn’t have been allowed to do it. The ref who swallowed his whistle committed a travesty.) On the other hand, for the line judge to run to the umpire was the act of a weenie. Had Serena committed another foot fault at match point calling it would he been admirable. But it was the wrong time to discipline her.

I’m old enough to remember John playing tennis. McEnroe had tantrums.

Example:

JM: “You CAN’T be SERIOUS!”.
JM: “You’re the WORST UMPIRE I’ve EVER SEEN in MY LIFE!”

SW: “I swear to God, I’m f—— going to take this f—— ball and shove it down your f—— throat, you hear that? I swear to God.”

BTW, the legal definition of Assault: an attempt to hurt someone physically; it is also the *THREAT* of force or use of force, making the victim apprehensive of harmful or offensive contact.

I think I would fear Serena more than John McEnroe.

Reading such statements as “She is triggered by her deep seated self hatred”. It sounds like you have your Oprah PhD.

In fact, you’ve been reading too many grocery store self=help books because of your own deep seated self hatred.

The truth is, you don’t know anything her at all – you’ve never even met her. I can tell you’re not a professional because an educated professional would never throw such judgement around without much more information.

I like Serena but that was definitely not her finest moment! I’m sure glad my worst moments weren’t televised. Regardless, if I had to wager though, I bet she was just on her period.

After Venus lost to Kim, Serena had to redeem the family name and restore pride. She lost her temper and abused her racket, then when she realizes she is about to be beaten by Kim, she let’s loose on the line judge in a display of rage. She is triggered by her deep seated self hatred.
She can’t bring herself to apologize because she is denial, totally out of touch with the real reasons for her actions.
What we have here is an example of dissociated shame.
