What Did Serena Williams say: Serena Williams Foot Fault Outburst Video

serena-williams-denim

Serena Williams is in the news for her outburst in the US Open 2009 in a match with Kim Clijsters against a lines-woman for making a wrong call. Serena found abusing the lines-woman after she was told that she was at fault because of her wrong foot movement and according to Serena she was wrong. As she had already received an earlier warning in the match for smashing a racket, Serena was handed an automatic point penalty for a second violation. So as a result Kim Clijsters won the match 6-4, 7-5 on Sunday night at US Open.

Here’s what Serena tried to say to Lines-woman:-

Looking at a tape of the incident, including one broadcast on ESPN, it appeared Williams said, “I swear to God [bleep], I’m taking this ball and I’m shoving it your [bleep]. If I could, I would take . . . this ball and . . . shove it down your throat.”

Well everyone of us loose temper sometimes and sportsman are also human beings so it’s not new that she lost her temper. We have caught John McEnroe many times scolding the umpires for no reason. So cool down guys… I mean this is not the last time any sports man gonna loose her temper and she isn’t first either.

17 People have Responded So Far

  1. Luther Says:

Well don’t know much about tennis. I know this in the only site that tried to publish Serena’s actual words. All stories are slanted against the line judge, some comments are very raciest. I think bad sportsmanship should be punished. Looks like tennis has established rules. Violations have consequences, a professional and the role modal for many would not cross the line. Next she needs to quit acting like a victim. (Serena) I would be intimidated by her she was twice the size of the line judge.

  2. Nigaude Says:

    Are you justifying the outburst?

The code violation is not about the words, it is about the actions. She threatened the lineswoman in a menacing way and did it twice.

Regardless of the score, she could have been defaulted right then.

It is a no-win situation – if they hadn’t defaulted Serena, people would have said she got special treatment. Because they followed the rules and it is Serena, people are suggesting that she’s been picked on.

  3. Norm Says:

A foot fault call like that at a critical point of the game , get real ! Kim would have won anyways and I feel most for her because the moment was stolen by poor judging. Athletes react like this all the time when stupid calls are made at the worst possible moment. They should have tested this volunteer first, for game knowledge, and the chair should have taken more leadership.

  4. ShowStalker Says:

Well guys….i am in no way justifying what Serena did…of course what she did was wrong, however things do happen in the heat of the game. I mean we can’t just pick on her for that….no way…She has been a good ambassador of the game till now. so it’s just a first mistake of hers. let it go.

  5. Joe S. Says:

I think some of you people have forgotten about John McEnroe or maybe just too young to remember his antics on the court, which were much worst than that litte outburst of Serena.

  6. TTT Says:

Serena does not seem to understand what she did. She looked 100% threatening, intimidating at the line judge.

Yet, she denied the fact that she made wrong action.

  7. Ann Says:

    While serenalost
it the chair umpire could have made an effort to stop the out of control player

  8. peter h . c. Says:

After Venus lost to Kim, Serena had to redeem the family name and restore pride. She lost her temper and abused her racket, then when she realizes she is about to be beaten by Kim, she let’s loose on the line judge in a display of rage. She is triggered by her deep seated self hatred.
She can’t bring herself to apologize because she is denial, totally out of touch with the real reasons for her actions.
What we have here is an example of dissociated shame.

  9. Hitman Says:

    Peter h,

Reading such statements as “She is triggered by her deep seated self hatred”. It sounds like you have your Oprah PhD.

In fact, you’ve been reading too many grocery store self=help books because of your own deep seated self hatred.

The truth is, you don’t know anything her at all – you’ve never even met her. I can tell you’re not a professional because an educated professional would never throw such judgement around without much more information.

I like Serena but that was definitely not her finest moment! I’m sure glad my worst moments weren’t televised. Regardless, if I had to wager though, I bet she was just on her period.

  10. Beast Says:

Joe S. said “I think some of you people have forgotten about John McEnroe or maybe just too young to remember his antics on the court, which were much worst than that litte outburst of Serena.”

I’m old enough to remember John playing tennis. McEnroe had tantrums.

    Example:

    JM: “You CAN’T be SERIOUS!”.
JM: “You’re the WORST UMPIRE I’ve EVER SEEN in MY LIFE!”

SW: “I swear to God, I’m f—— going to take this f—— ball and shove it down your f—— throat, you hear that? I swear to God.”

BTW, the legal definition of Assault: an attempt to hurt someone physically; it is also the *THREAT* of force or use of force, making the victim apprehensive of harmful or offensive contact.

I think I would fear Serena more than John McEnroe.

  11. Gandydancer Says:

Get real? If Serena stepped on the line the line judge should have called it PARTICULARLY because of when it was. If it’s the Super Bowl does the receiver not have to come down in bounds? If it’s the NBA finals does Michael get to push off to get his shot off? (Well, bad example. He did. But he shouldn’t have been allowed to do it. The ref who swallowed his whistle committed a travesty.) On the other hand, for the line judge to run to the umpire was the act of a weenie. Had Serena committed another foot fault at match point calling it would he been admirable. But it was the wrong time to discipline her.

  12. Serena needs to appoligize for her rage Says:

Norm: “They should have tested this volunteer first, for game knowledge”

Yeah, youre right. They just grabbed the nearest woman walking along the side of the road and said “hey, would you like to be a line judge” lol. Shut up.

Serena was clearly out of control. There is no ‘debate’. She knew she was going to loose and through a little hissy fit.

Her interview after the game was a disgrace and she should feel ashamed for playing the victim card instead of apologizing. So typical.

  13. Serena needs to appoligize for her rage Says:

The line judge was Asian. You know the media would be over this story 100x stronger if she was White. Then they could really hammer the victim card home.

And you know damn well if the roles were reversed ALL the headlines would read “Serena sends white girl into uncontrollable rage after tennis beating”

Then they’d play the clip a million times for months on every network.

  14. Payton Says:

And what qualifies you to determine that her actions are a cause of self hatred? She lost her temper; She was wrong, it has nothing to do with hatred for anyone or anything but the call of the line judge. She just ranks up there with the best of them now: McEnroe and Nastase (Nasty). Get over it people, please just get over it.

  15. Oscar Tritt Says:

The rules simply state: first a code warning, next a point violation, finally you are defaulted from the match. Serena was correctly assesed a point penalty on a 15-40 (game & match point)point, thus she loses the match. Easy as that.

  16. Mark Says:

She’s lucky she didn’t get arrested for assault, some pretty scary words especially someone with her build. And that line judge is tiny. When you let your emotions take control, bad things happen.

  17. Whatever Says:

    @Gandydancer

The line judge was called over by the umpire to find out what was said to her.
