Dr. Regina Benjamin is a new United States Surgeon General and is a Family Physician who has helped number of poor people along Alabama’s Gulf Coast.
Surgeon General means a responsibility of administering the health care system and perhaps revamping it at times as per need.
As AP reported:-
For her part, Benjamin on Monday ticked off preventable diseases that have claimed nearly all her relatives — diabetes, high blood pressure, lung cancer.She pledged to fight so that, in her words, “no one falls through the cracks as we improve our health care system.
Dr. Sanjay Gupta was offered the post earlier this year however he turned it down citing family and personal problems so the pendulum swung to Regina this time and she grabbed it by both hands.
