Woody Allen has settled the lawsuit he filed against American Apparel, a clothing manufacturer, outside court for the use of image of him from the 1977 movie “Annie Hall” on billboards without his prior permission.
Woody accepted a hefty amount of $5million by the American Apparel. Mr. Allen obviously seemed quite happy and said,”Threats and press leaks by American Apparel designed to smear me did not work, and a scheme to call a long list of witnesses who had absolutely nothing to do with the case was also disallowed by the court. I suspect this dose of legal reality led to their 11th-hour settlement.”
I guess this is the major victory not just for woody but also may other film makers and after this no one will ever try and use the movie images in the ad without permission. Congrats Woody waiting for your next film. You can also watch the video from his movie Annie Hall below after the jump.
