Liz Hurley turns all the heads with her skimpy sexy designer black gown

If passports still listed occupations, Liz Hurley could write “professional dress-wearer” in hers. She’s turned her hand to acting, she’s tried modeling – and now she’s even designing bikinis – but she’s still best known for squeezing herself into a series of eye-popping outfits.

And at the age of 42 she certainly knows how to get the flashbulbs popping, enlivening an otherwise obscure awards ceremony with a sparkling black dress.

The low-cut, backless garment would be a daring choice for a teenage ingenue – never mind a forty something mother of one.

But Hurley, as they say in racing circles, has form. She first came to public attention 14 years ago when she accompanied her then-boyfriend Hugh Grant to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral in a frock so memorable it is now known simply as ‘that dress’.

Her latest outfit, worn at the Duftstar fragrance awards in Berlin, certainly brought back memories of the plunging black Versace number, which was held together with gold safety pins.

However, unlike most of the rest of us, Hurley looks better 14 years on. The clumpy platform slingbacks and shiny tights of 1998 were gone, replaced with a long train which went some way towards compensating for the lack of material higher up the dress.

The awards show appearance follows a busy week for Hurley, who launched her new bikini line for Mango in Spain on Monday.

Despite her earlier protestations that her days of modeling skimpy outfits were behind her, she happily stripped down to a two-piece to publicize the range.

However, she confessed that she was partial to a spot of airbrushing. “I like a certain amount of retouching, like anybody,” she said. “We all like to get rid of spots and shadows under our eyes.”

But judging by her flawless appearance here – and showing off a body that would make women half her age green with envy – she clearly doesn’t need to rely too heavily on digital manipulation.
